Dose-Dependent Effects of Antioxidants on Root-Knot Nematode Infection in Vegetable Crops and Dosage Standardization for Preventive Measures

چکیده

Different antioxidant compounds (ACs) were applied to vegetable plants as foliar spray or soil drench before inoculation with root-knot nematodes (RKNs). doses of salicylic acid (SA), methyl-salicylate (MetSA), methyl jasmonate (MetJA), and ascorbate (ASC) tested; chosen according the size weights be treated. Generally, low ACs increased nematode infection; conversely, when raised, acted effective resistance inducers reduced infection, measured numbers individuals developed in roots reproduction rates. The activation defense often occurred at expense plant fitness, although infected plants, benefits treatments on growth caused by relief from symptoms monitored untreated plants. Single pre-treatments SA, MetSA, ASC, proper amounts, almost halved infection variables; repeated applications SA during pathogenesis annulled effectiveness single pre-treatments. MetJA application was generally toxic and, also provided minimal this compound always ineffective against nematodes. Other phenols phenolic acids tested same that for no reduction except duroquinone, which total suppression associated a decrease root growth.

1982 Engineering durable root-knot nematode resistance in crops by RNAi silencing of a root-knot nematode parasitism gene

Secreted proteins coded by parasitism genes expressed in esophageal gland cells mediate infection and parasitism of plants by root-knot nematodes. An essential parasitism gene, designated as 16D10, encodes a conserved root-knot nematode secretory peptide that stimulates root growth and functions as a ligand for a plant transcription factor. Plants were engineered to silence this parasitism gene...

Effect of organic amendment on organic metabolites in root knot nematode (Meloidogyne Incognita) infested spinach

The Nematodes are roundworms that are found in every environment of the earth. While some species are harmful parasites, others play a vital role in nutrient cycle and medical research. Nematode infestation in the fields is poly-specific; however, depending on the agro-climatic conditions, one or two species are dominant over the rest. The present studies attempts to observe and control the roo...

Dose-response effects of clove oil from Syzygium aromaticum on the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita.

BACKGROUND Clove oil, derived from the plant Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. & Perry, is active against various organisms, and was prepared in a soy lecithin/detergent formulation to determine concentrations active against the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) Chitwood. RESULTS In microwell assays, the mean effective clove oil concentration that reduced egg hatch by 5...
